US Futures Mixed, European Stocks Edge Up

U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were up 0.5% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average were flat. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.

In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 climbed 0.5% in morning trading. Afry rose 10.1% and NEL added 8.3%. On the other hand, Delivery Hero slipped 4.9%, and DocMorris lost 2.8%. The FTSE 100 added 0.4%. Other stocks in Europe were up as France's CAC 40 increased 0.4% and Germany's DAX rose 0.6%.

The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index was flat at 97.49.

In commodities, Brent crude gained 0.5% to $79.11 a barrel, and WTI crude rose 0.3% to $74.04 a barrel.

The German 10-year Bund yield rose by 2 basis points to 2.171% from 2.148%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury climbed by 1 basis point to 3.891% from 3.878%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.

Stocks in Asia were mixed as Japan's Nikkei 225 index gained 0.4%, whereas Hong Kong's Hang Seng declined 0.2%. China's benchmark Shanghai Composite dropped 1.5%.
