MUMBAI--ICICI Bank Ltd., India's largest private-sector lender, Monday reported a 2.4% rise in its fiscal second-quarter profit thanks to lower tax expenses, surprising analysts who had expected profit to decline.

ICICI Bank Ltd. engages in the provision of banking and financial services, which includes retail banking, corporate banking, and treasury operations.
